Here's what students had to say:
In an anonymous survey of students, here are some highlights from last year:
- I enjoyed her positive attitude and how she was always willing to help. -- North Cape graduate
- Honors English 9 was probably one of the smartest decisions I have made in school. Over the course of the year, I was able to notice my improvement and progress. I pushed myself and I was able to shine through at points at show my full potential. I don't think I will ever forget Mrs. B and this class. At times I did get nervous, and I found it hard to keep up, but when I did catch up the class was fun. It was also great to have my longest class of the day be English. Don't forget when you kissed the cow! Thank you Mrs. Backhaus. -- Fox River graduate
- The frames were very helpful and easy to use. I also liked how we did a lot with Google Docs. It was also nice that the website was frequently updated. -- St. Thomas graduate
- I felt this class was challenging, yet a good introductory class. I feel regular English would not have been hard enough. --Other school graduate
- Honestly, I was overjoyed with everything I have learned this year, especially with writing. Everyone can think he/she has perfected his/her writing until the time is taken to sit down and look over the work. Then a realization strikes that improvement can always be made. Writing is a skill that will always be needed, but the importance of never giving up cannot be stressed. -- North Cape graduate
- Honors English 9 is an enjoyable class and have been a joy to be apart of. The lessons that I have learned will help me later in my life. --Washington Caldwell graduate
- She was very helpful in writing, and always willing to help. --Fox River graduate
- I really learned a lot this year and the class challenges advanced students, which is something that has been missing from previous schools' English programs
